October 27 Vigil for Scott Olsen

scott olsenA Marine veteran who served two tours in Iraq was critically injured during a brutal police crackdown on Occupy Oakland. 

The encampment held a candlelight vigil for Scott organized by Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). Speakers included Keith Shannon, who deployed to Iraq with Scott Olsen, and other friends and allies of Scott.

Last night, Highland Hospital Chief Surgeon Dr. Alden Harken reported that Olsen was breathing on his own, and capable of moving his body. Harken said these were "huge" neurological improvements from when Olsen arrived. "He's still having trouble articulating words. I anticipate that will improve."

 Tell Oakland Mayor to end the brutality and investigate this incident:
